Chief Michael Hynes Sworn In Story & photos by Ex Captain Steven Grogan On April 19, 2011, Michael J. Hynes was sworn in as Chief of Department by Lynbrook Mayor William Hendrick at the annual Council Meeting of the Lynbrook Fire Department. Chief Hynes has been a deputy chief for the past three years. He is a livelong resident of Lynbrook and graduated from Lynbrook High School. He is also a graduate of Nassau Community College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. The chief joined the Lynbrook Junior Fire Department in 1984 and the regular department in 1989. He also previously served as an officer and was Captain of Engine Company 1 on Carpenter Avenue in 2000. The chief works for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He is engaged to be married to Julie. Also sworn into office at the meeting was Anthony DeCarlo of Tally-Ho as First Deputy Chief; Edward Hynes of Engine Company as Second Deputy Chief; and Michael Anderson of Truck Company as Third Deputy Chief. The mayor then opened a bottle of champagne and toasted the new chiefs of the department. Chief Hynes then swore in the officers of each of the five fire companies and the Medical Company and Village of Lynbrook Administrator John Giordano swore in the Wardens for the coming year . |
