As part of Lynbrook Community Night at the Met's Citi Field on Tuesday evening, May 29, 2012, Ex-Chief Michael Hynes was awarded the 2012 Spirit Award by the Met's organization. Ex-Chief Hynes was honored as were other members of the community including police officers. Lynbrook's mayor William Hendrick was also honored with the award. A contingent of firefighters from the department, led by Chief Anthony DeCarlo were on hand for the ceremony as well as to watch the Lynbrook FD Color Guard march out into the field for the opening ceremonies. The Mets won the game.
