New Ambulance Christened Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan
On Sunday morning, April 14, 2013, the Emergency Medical Company of the Lynbrook Fire Department christened their new Unit 425 at ceremonies at their firehouse on Vincent Avenue. Besides the chiefs and members of the Lynbrook Fire Department who were present for the christening and wet-down of the new vehicle, many local, county and state elected officials were on hand. Chief Anthony DeCarlo said a prayer for the safety of the new vehicle and those will ride on it. Then Ex-Captain Dave Linzer tried a number of times at different spots to break a bottle of champagne on the new vehicle. The vehicle was finally christened with the champagne on the back step. Engine Company was also on hand and they wet-down the new unit with their deck gun. A collation followed inside the firehouse.
