Medical Company Stabilizes Victim
Story & photos by Ex Captain Steven Grogan On the morning of May 27, 2010,
the Lynbrook Fire Department's Emergency Medical Company and the
Department's Extrication Team responded to a reported auto
accident at the intersection of Merrick Road and Blake Avenue.
The Department was under the command of Deputy Chief Anthony
DeCarlo. Allegedly, according to witnesses, one vehicle came
out of Blake Avenue against the trafffic light and was struck by
a vehicle going westbound on Merrick Road. The driver of the
westbound vehicle was seriously hurt when he struck his head on
the windshield when the air bags failed to deploy. The driver
was found bleeding profusely when firefighter's arrived on the
scene. Medical Company personal immediately stopped the flow of
blood, stabilized him, and transported him to the hospital. |
