On Saturday evening August 20, 2011, shortly after 7 PM, the Lynbrook Fire Department was dispatched to a Signal 9 for an auto accident at the intersection of Peninsula Blvd and Hempstead Avenue. Upon arrival on the scene a motorcycle was found down and damaged in the intersection. The motorcycle operator was sitting on the curb by Flinch and Bruns Funeral Home. Unit 425A from the Emergency Medical Company responded as did the Lynbrook Police. Chief Mike Hynes was on the scene. Medical Company personnel with the help of department members stabilized the rider on a stretcher and transported him to a local hospital.
