Extrication Training Story & photos by Ex Captain Steven Grogan On Monday, September 24, 2012, the Training Committee of the Lynbrook Fire Department conducted a Extrication training session with the Extrication Team and the Emergency Medical Company at the department's Training Center in Wilcox Alley. The Extrication Team and Medical Company responded to Wilcox Alley and found a crushed vehicle which had a tree across the top of it. (The Village of Lynbrook's Department of Public Works assisted and put the tree on the vehicle). When the firefighters and Medical personnel arrived on the scene they found three dummys representing victims trapped inside the crushed vehicle. The Medical Company personnel went to work and attended to the so-called victims while the Extrication Team worked to remove doors with their tools to get the trapped victims out of the vehicle. The training session was put together by department training officers Brian Brown, Nick Pearsall, and John Chavatte. |
