September 12, 2012

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

On Thursday afternoon, September 12, 2012, the Emergency Medical Company of the Lynbrook Fire Department responded to a reported pedestrian struck in front of North Middle School on Merrick Road.  When Lynbrook police and Chief Anthony DeCarlo arrived on the scene a man was found laying on the ground between two parked cars on the north side of the street.  He had suffered injuries to his left leg.  The police at the scene determined that the man was opening the driver's door of his mini-van parked on Merrick Road when a senior citizen female driving westbound on Merrick Road struck the man pushing him between his car and the car parked in front.  The female driver then hit the car parked in front.  She was not injured and did not require medical attention.  The Medical Company EMT's stabilized the victim and splintered his leg before he was put on a stretcher and transported in 425A to the hospital.
