Dylan Bien, son of Lynbrook FD members Larry and Cathy Bien, and an Ex-Captain of the Lynbrook Junior Fire Department, was awarded the Ex-Chief Ronald P. Festa Scholarship Award for 2012. The $500 Scholarship, in memory of the late Ex-Chief Ron Festa of Vulcan Company, is awarded each year by the Festa family to a graduating junior firefighter. Ex-Chief Festa was a deputy chief when the juniors were formed in 1979. The award was presented by Ron's wife Kathy, and son Peter. Larry and Cathy Bien, as well as Chief Anthony DeCarlo were on hand for the presentation that took place at Fire Headquarters. Dylan, a recent graduate of Lynbrook High School, will be attending Nassau Community College majoring in Nursing.
