Story by
Ex-Captain Steve Grogan; Photos by Firefighter Chris Hynes
On June 14th, 2012 Lynbrook firefighter Chris Hynes of Engine Company travelled with six other Nassau County firefighters to Fort Bragg on behalf of Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior. They were there for two days. The organization had been invited by military officials to thank Nassau firefighters for all their help each December when firefighters come to Fort Bragg and present Christmas presents to their warriors receiving rehabilitation for war injuries. The firefighters were also welcomed and hosted the first evening by members of the Spout Springs Fire Department who held a southern style BBQ on their behalf. On the second day Nassau firefighters attended Fort Bragg's Family Day activities at the post which included another barbecue for the wounded warriors and their families. The firefighters enjoyed the day with them and even gave out gifts to their children. The base commander thanked our firefighters and other group who help and support our wounded warriors. |
