On Memorial Day 2007, the officers and members of the Lynbrook Fire Department, including the Lynbrook Junior Fire Department, under the command of Chief Robert Occhipinti, gathered at the Firefighters Memorial on Sunrise Highway to remember four members of the Lynbrook Fire Department that died fighting in war.  The firefighters and juniors were joined by the Mayor of Lynbrook, Brian Curran, a member of Hose Company, all of the Village Trustees, and other officials.  Firefighters laid wreaths at the stones of the four firefighters.  The Chief's then placed a department wreath in front of the Firefighters Memorial as did the VFW who was also in attendance to honor these men.
