On the morning of May 26, 2014, the Lynbrook Fire Department, the Ladies Auxiliary, and junior firefighters, under the command of Chief Michael Anderson, gathered before the Memorial Day parade at the Firefighters Memorial on Sunrise Highway to remember four Lynbrook volunteers, two from Truck Company and two from Hose Company, who made the supreme sacrifice and were killed in action during World War II.  The memorial service was also attended by local county, town and village officials.
