Members
and friends of Rescue Hook, Ladder & Bucket Co. No. 1 were present to
witness the end of an era as the oldest portion of their firehouse was
demolished. Fire ravaged key support points in the historic structure,
rendering it unsafe and un-repairable to current building codes. The
demolition, which took four days to complete, makes way for a new
structure to replace the 1884 vintage building. The newer portions of the
structure will be salvaged.
